On October 1, 1920, the Gettysburg Rotary Club went from a dream to reality when its charter members were installed by District Governor John Rudisill of York. The installation of the club took place at the old Eagle Hotel located on Chambersburg and North Washington Streets, where today’s Seven-Eleven can be found.

M.C. Jones was recognized as Gettysburg’s first President. Twenty members made up the original constituency.

Gettysburg was the 770th Rotary Club to be chartered in the world. In perspective there are now over 31,000 clubs in 165 countries. Our club number is 5341.
