International Service

The  International Service lane advances international understanding, goodwill, and peace -
by getting acquainted with people of other countries, their culture, customs, accomplishments, aspirations, their problems - through personal contact in the Rotarian's own community, by travel, and attendance at conventions, through reading and correspondence, and through cooperation in all club activities and projects - including those of the Rotary Foundation - that will be helpful to people in other lands.

The following subcommittees operate under this
lane of service:

a) World Community Service,
b) International Youth
Projects,
c) The Rotary Foundation
d) Youth Exchange
e) Group Study
Exchange.

Youth Exchange Program
The Rotary Club of Gettysburg has had a tradition of a very actively-sponsored Youth Exchange Program, currently chaired by Connie and Ken Farabaugh.

All of these students receive a tremendous amount of support, including host families for "inbounds", counseling and guidance from the club members serving as mentors for "outbounds", and general oversight and in-depth guidance from Connie and Ken.

The youth exchange program has broadened the outlook of many individuals and helped to further the goals of Rotary International
.

The Rotary Exchange Students for 1999-2000  are Pei Yin Shih from Taipei, Taiwan
and Kote Vashadze from Tbilisi, Georgia.
