ROTARY CLUB OF GETTYSBURG
ANNUAL VOCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP
PURPOSE:
To provide assistance to a graduating senior of the
Gettysburg, Upper Adams, or Fairfield High Schools who will continue
their education in an eighteen month or two-year program of higher
education majoring in a vocational subject area.
AWARD:
A $1,000.00 grant awarded to the successful student with
the payment made directly to the eligible institution of his or her
choice.
ELIGIBILITY:
Students must meet the following requirements:
Be a graduating senior at Gettysburg, Upper Adams, or
Fairfield High School.
Be a high school student who has taken vocationally
oriented subjects in high school, completed a minimum of two such
subjects during their senior year and have filed a career
objective with the high school guidance office.
Achieve a B average on vocational subjects and a grade
of C or better on all subjects during the senior year.
Be committed to attending a post secondary program in a
vocational area.
PROCEDURE
Students interested in the award must complete an
application that is available from a vocational teacher or the
guidance office. Upon completion, the application should be
returned to the guidance office and forwarded to the Rotary
Club. Applicants must be present to interview with the Rotary
Club if selected for the scholarship.
DEADLINE
Applications are to be received by the guidance
office of the high school by
Friday, April
3rd, 2009.
Interviews will be held in late April with the award
being given at an awards assembly or at graduation.
